It was a lovely Mothers Day Sunday here, with mixes of sun and clouds, paper blooms for a special mom, and flowering crabs dropping confetti of pink petals all over the sidewalks. I was able to sneak in a late afternoon walk to get up close and smell the trees, which are definitely on my list of favorites.
Inspired by a trip to Maine, I am also revealing some new textile work. This one is a mixed media image of a room by the ocean, using hand-stitched and sculpted fabrics, wood, and paper on a linen base. I love the simple beauty and texture of linen, and sewing by hand with a needle and thread rocks!
Sundays are also one of the few days I get to have fun in the kitchen. I try to roast a chicken in my enameled cast iron Dutch oven every Sunday for us to have through the busy week. As I type, I keep stopping to smell the lavender, marjoram, and lemon on my hands from today's roast, and the house is filled with the most delicious aroma! Dinner will be sooo good tonight : )
