Ballerina Daydreams

You my have guessed from the above blog banner that my ballerina art doll puppet Sabine is finished. Dressed in caramel tulle with satin shoes, a feathery costume, and a Swarovski crystal, her soft elegance evokes (for me) tales of wintertime enchantment.

Sabine's puppet strings control her right arm and leg. They can be lifted together, or each individually, for a range of expressive dance moves. It's lovely to watch her "perform" ~especially to soft wintertime music!

Ballerinas are a wonderful theme for wintertime imaginings.

Lately, the studio's golden light, airy curtains, and soft fibers and fabrics~along with a magical snowfall that came over the weekend!~are inspiring my own daydreams of sheer tulle and graceful movements acting out ballet stories in starlit winter night theatre sets.

Camille has recently come out of these daydreams~seen en pointe here (awaiting shoes : )

I want to shrink down and wear her tutu ; )

I'll have more activity to share from the studio soon!

Christmas is Coming

The Halloween blog party has been such festive entertainment! Thank you for all the wonderful comments on my work and invitations to make visits to other party sites. I am still working my way through that wonderful list on A Fanciful Twist~ Thank you Vanessa : )

You can see from the photos above that I have Christmas on the brain. I love Christmastime, and we are good at making magical cozy atmosphere here! It's soooo fun to be drawing from the sensations of that time, and reflecting those out in my work.

There is new doll puppet work in progress...

And, here is my latest addition to the shop~ A woodland wintertime faerie tale book diorama---Just slightly larger than 3x4 inches! It's a magical miniature world (I think!) for gazing into, for displaying, and for prompting enchanting wintertime bedtime stories for drifting off into sweet dreams...You can read more about it here, in my Etsy shop.

You can also visit my new "Studio" page (above) for a behind-the-scenes look at where and how Bonne Nuit Designs artworks get made.

I'll be "opening the doors" for more cozy Christmastime/wintertime peeks and visits on the blog throughout the season. Stay tuned...Here, the hot chocolate is always warm, the light is golden, and there's magic in the air!

Sweet dreams until then,

~Kim
